Three Reasons You Should Already Be on a Fishing Trip

Three Reasons You Should Already Be on a Fishing Trip

Alaska fishing lodge

People go king salmon fishing in Alaska to, well, catch king salmon. It’s a competitive, fun challenge, but that’s not all. People take Alaskan fishing trips to get away from it all, which in and of itself has a lot more benefits than you might imagine. Here are just a few.

The Cabin Life Is Literally Good For You.

The cabin life is literally good for you. Science says so. According to a 2009 study published online in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, a decrease in people’s exposure to nature has possibly led to the increase in conditions like obesity, attention disorders, and depression. In other words, taking time to enjoy the cabin life is very good for you.

The Cabin Life Makes You Happier.

The cabin life literally makes you happier, too. Because you’re outside in the sunlight, your Vitamin D levels are boosted. Studies have shown that Vitamin D may help ward off forms of depression, which means that getting away from it all and into nature can actually make you happier.

The Cabin Life Helps You Get Back to a Healthy Sleep Schedule.

Going on a fishing trip can also help you re-regulate your sleep schedule. The lights from our offices, rooms, computers, and mobile devices often throw off our sleep schedules, making it harder to go to bed at a reasonable hour, and harder to get up in the morning. When camping, your internal clock will synchronize with the natural light-dark cycle, which means you’ll begin feeling tired when you’re supposed, and awake when you’re supposed to.

Camping is good for you. Literally. Getting away from it all can help lower your risk of such medical problems as obesity and depression, and help you get more sleep. Plus, it’s fun. Who doesn’t like the challenge of trying to catch a big fish?
